CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Bruce Altznauer called to order the regular meeting of the Rutledge City Council on the above date. Council members Tim Smith, Brandie Owens and Tony Sells were present. Council member Brenda Thompson was absent
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Mayor Altznauer called for and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Tim Smith made motion to approve the minutes of the March 19, 2019 meeting as submitted. Tony Sells seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
SPEEDING ISSUES – E. DIXIE – SHANNON MCCOLLUM
Shannon McCollum addressed the council about the speeding on East Dixie Hwy. She said that her neighbor’s house is close to the road and they have a small child and she worries about it. Mayor Altznauer stated that we could call Sheriff Markley get a police presence out here or we could get a blinking sign. We a have lot of requests for speed humps. We need to get the engineer back out here. Debbie Kilgore said she would call the engineer to come back out and do a study. Shannon McCollum stated she would like to get something done, but not necessarily a speed hump. The mayor stated that he would ask for more help from the Sheriff. Tony Sells advised Ms. McCollum to make note of the times the speeding happens and it would help. Ms. McCollum said she would do that.
EVENTS / MERCHANT UPDATE – MOLLY LESNIKOWSKI
Molly Lesnikowski was not present. Mayor Altznauer said the Trader Days event held on Saturday was successful. He stated that there were a lot of vendors. This event replaces what was called the Rutledge Yard Sale.
UPDATE DEPOT BUILDING
Mayor Altznauer informed the council that the inside office had been repainted. He said the same company that put the roof on did the painting. He advised the council that it would be renamed to the Rutledge Community Depot. The council room will be an events center having classes such as yoga, pilates, self-defense classes, etc. The old mayor and clerk’s office will be a community library. All the books will be donated. They will have a soft opening at the end of the month. It will be open on Saturday and ½ day on Sunday. We need to get kids coming back into town. The little library that Council member Brandie Owens set up has been very successful. We will get the sign changed to say Rutledge Community Depot. Cindy Ferguson will be trimming the roses and other bushes in the front. Mr. Pace asked about the music concerts. Mayor Altznauer said they will start Memorial Day Weekend.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Tony Sells made motion to exit regular session for the purpose of entering executive session to discuss personnel. Tim Smith seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried. Tim Smith made motion to exit executive session and enter regular session. Tony Sells seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
Brandie Owens made motion to adjourn at 7:52 pm. Tony Sells seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
