CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Bruce Altznauer called to order the regular meeting of the Rutledge City Council on the above date. Council members Brenda Thompson, Tony Sells and Tim Smith were present as were members of the public. Council member Brandie Owens was absent.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Mayor Altznauer called for and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Brenda Thompson made motion to approve the minutes of the January 15, 2019 meeting as submitted. Tim Smith seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
ARBOR DAY PROCLAMATION
Mayor Altznauer read the proclamation and said he would sign it and present it to the Tree Board at the Arbor Day event on March 1st at 5:00 PM here at the City Hall. He said the Tree Board and the Garden Club would be coordinating together to plant two trees in front of City Hall.
ROOF REPLACEMENT – TRAIN DEPOT / SHOP
Mayor Altznauer advised the council that Kurt White with RWN Roofing was present and has concerns about the roof at the old City Hall. He said Kurt will come out and do an inspection and get the insurance company involved. Mr. White stated that the roof has wind and hail damage and is an eye sore. He said we can get someone out from the insurance company and hopefully they will sign for a full replacement. Council Member Tony Sells asked would the City get more than one quote. Mayor Altznauer said yes.
DISCUSSION OF CHANGING DECLARATION PAGE OF HEALTH INSURANCE
Mayor Altznauer advised the council that he is asking to be able to get on the City health insurance but he would pay for it. He advised that he is currently on COBRA but it would soon be ending. In order to do this a new declaration page for the insurance needs to be signed. Brenda Thompson made motion to add Elected Officials (Mayor and Council) to the declaration page of the health insurance with the stipulation they buy into at their own expense by reimbursing the City each month. Tony Sells seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
UPCOMING EVENTS – MOLLY LESNIKOWSKI
Molly Lesnikowski addressed the council and said she wanted to give an overview of the upcoming events planned for Rutledge. She said they had a meeting in January and decided on the events they would like to have this year as follows:
Arbor Day Event – March 1, 2019 at 5:00 PM to be held at City Hall – 105 Newborn Road
Egg Roll – Not being held in Rutledge, partnering with Hard Labor Creek State Park
Yard Sale – Now is “Rutledge Trader Days” – April 13th – 9 to 3:00 PM
Rutledge Fair – May 25th – Downtown
Music in the Park – Every Friday beginning May 31st and ending Friday August 31st
Spooky Fall Fest – Date to be determined
Christmas Festival – Date to be determined
She said we also would like to have a field day sometime in June and have college kids hold different types of sports clinics for the kids and in July have the waterslide in the downtown park. She stated these are just ideas now and will have firm dates and times later. I plan to try and come to the meetings each month so we can update you on what will be going on in town.
The mayor and Council thanked her for coming.
Tony Sells made motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:31 PM. Brenda Thompson seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
