CITY OF RUTLEDGE REGULAR MEETING - APRIL 17, 2018

CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Bruce Altznauer called to order the regular meeting of the Rutledge City Council on the above date. Council members Brenda Thompson, Tim Smith, Brandie Owens and Tony Sells were present as were members of the public.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Mayor Altznauer called for and led the pledge of allegiance.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Tim Smith made motion to approve the minutes of the March 20, 2018 meeting as submitted. Brenda Thompson seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

BUSINESS LICENSE APPROVAL

Mayor Altznauer advised the council that two business license applications were submitted for approval for home offices from Jake McClure and Amy Ellis. He said they are both allowed in their zoning districts. Brenda Thompson made motion to approve the business license for JC Mechanical and Construction LLC located at 293 Fairplay Street for a home office submitted by Jacob McClure. Tony Sells seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried. Tony Sells made motion to approve the business license for Creative Corner located at 282 West Main Street submitted by Amy Ellis. Tim Smith seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

UPCOMING EVENTS – MOLLY LESNIKOWSKI

Molly Lesnikowski was present and said they had just finished the yard sale and it was way down from what it normally did. We would welcome input if anyone has ideas on how to improve it. The weather is always an issue. The Bragg Bike ride is April 21st which is Saturday. They come in on Thursday and go to the Sunflower Farm and there is music and fun it starts up around 4 and goes until 9 and the public is welcome. The Country Fair is May 26th and that is the big thing for the town. The music in the park starts with the fair every Friday until Labor Day and Terry has that in good shape. We will be getting a water slide a couple of times this year but do not have the dates yet. Tony Sells asked if the baseball field was being used. Molly said yes we have a chart at the caboose. Debbie Kilgore advised Molly that the City would need a list of things that they wanted the City to do for them to get ready for the fair. Molly told the Mayor and Council that the town looked really good. Molly asked if there was a schedule for limb pick up. Mayor Altznauer said yes it is on Wednesday and Debbie Kilgore gave her a copy of the guidelines and schedule.

BUDGET WORK SESSION DATES

Debbie Kilgore advised the council that she had two dates for work sessions. The dates are April 26th at 5:00 pm and May 8th at 6:00 pm. The Council said the dates were good for them.

PARKING ISSUES – MEMO FROM KRIS BRAY

Kris Bray submitted a memo with ideas regarding parking. Tony Sells asked was it a need. The Mayor said yes but not all the time. Tony asked how many do we need. The mayor answered that he was not sure. I know it is something we have talked about for years. We welcome anyone with suggestions. Mr. Pace was present and asked what about using the church. Brenda Thompson stated people already use the church lots. The mayor said we need to be thinking about how many we may need and come up with ideas as to where we can put them.

LITTLE LIBRARY REQUEST

Debbie Kilgore stated that Ginger O’Neal with the Morgan County School sent an email about putting one of the little libraries in one of the parks. The Council discussed this item but no decision was made.

Brenda Thompson made motion to adjourn at 7:36. Tony Sells seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
