CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Bruce Altznauer called to order the regular meeting of the Rutledge City Council on the above date. Council members Brenda Thompson, Anthony Sells, Tim Smith and Brandy Owens were present as were members of the public.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Mayor Altznauer called for and led the pledge of allegiance.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Mayor Altznauer announced he had a new healthy beautiful grandson born on St. Patrick’s Day. Brenda Thompson reminded everyone that a sunrise service will be held in the downtown park on Easter Sunday.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Tim Smith made motion to approve the minutes of the February 20, 2018 regular meeting as submitted. Brenda Thompson seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

APPROVAL OF BUSINESS LICENSE

Mayor Altznauer advised the council that two applications were submitted for approval by Stacy Johnson for WJS Services, Inc. and the Bargain Center by Chuck Hemmings. He informed the council that they are allowed in regards to the zoning. Brenda Thompson made motion to approve the business license submitted by Stacy Johnson for WJS Services d/b/a Adventure Party Rental for a home office located at 3341 Old Mill Road. Tony Sells seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried. Tony Sells made motion to approve the business license submitted by Chuck Hemmings for the Bargain Center located at 106 West Main Street for retail sales. Tim Smith seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

OLD / UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Mayor Altznauer stated that the employees had cleaned up all the city buildings and we are still working on the equipment list for the advertisement for the paper. Tony Sells asked if he had found a truck. He advised no that instead was looking at a gator. The mayor gave an update on the beaver damn problem on Newborn Road. He advised that it had been solved. He said three damns were broke and the reason we got involved was because of our water line. The county assisted in helping fix the problem. He also informed the council about a problem with the tank getting alarmingly low one night and it was a problem with the SCADA System. Tony Sells asked for an update on the new well house. The mayor advised that the roof is on but it still needs doors, the electrical and piping installed. He said when it is finished it will be the number one well in the county and we can reduce the amount of water we buy from Madison. He said the aerator that was in the shed has been picked up and is being repaired so now we will have and extra one. Tony Sells asked did they think the city has enough housing with Facebook coming and do we need to look into annexation. Brenda Thompson stated that we just need to talk to the people. Mayor Altznauer said change is coming and the potential is out there we need to get a game plan on how to approach it. Brenda Thompson asked what happened to the new sign that was to be installed at Play Fair Park. The clerk advised her that Beautification was going to install the new sign and Molly was in charge of the details.

Brenda Thompson made motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:30 pm. Tony Sells seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
