CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Knight called to order the regular meeting of the Rutledge City Council on the above date. Council members Brenda Thompson, Tim Smith and Bruce Altznauer were present as were members of the public. Council member Tony Sells was absent.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Mayor Knight called for and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Bruce Altznauer made motion to approve the minutes of the August 16, 2016 meeting as submitted. Tim Smith seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
BUSINESS LICENSE – ALEXUS CHRISLEY
Mayor Knight stated that Alexus Chrisley had submitted a business license application for 124 Fairplay Street. He advised that the business is Chrisley Events LLC. He said he had spoken to her and explained that an event facility was not allowed and it would have to be an office only and events could not be held there. Council member Tim Smith stated that on the application she had put the nature of the business was event planning and center. After discussing the application the council stated that more information was needed because a community center is not an allowed use either. Tim Smith made motion to table the business license application for Alexus Chrisley until more information can be obtained. Brenda Thompson seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
GEORGIA EPD – LEVEL 1 DROUGHT DECLARATION
Mayor Knight advised the council that a level one drought had been declared due to the lack of rain. This is just a notification that we should conserve water in every area possible. You can still water gardens and lawns just conserve as much as possible.
APPROVAL OF EXPENDITURE TO REPAIR POTHOLES
Mayor Knight stated that he had talked to Andy Ainsley about the county fixing our potholes and they gave us a price of $4,480.00. Bruce Altznauer asked how was that compared to us or others doing it. Mayor Knight said no one else has submitted a price. He said I think that is reasonable. Tim Smith made motion to approve the $4,480.00 expenditure to the County to repair the potholes. Brenda Thompson seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
OLD / UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Zack Pace was present and asked again about putting a speed hump on Hawkins. The mayor told him that a traffic engineer would have to look at it. Mayor Knight asked had we received any calls about speed humps. Debbie Kilgore stated that the only calls she had received were about the visibility of the one on Dixie. She said after the call she made a work order and Ernest Clark and Locklin Bray went out and put up speed hump ahead signs.
Bruce Altznauer asked the mayor about the status of the Bessemer house. Mayor Knight replied that he would have to talk to Charles Merritt.
Brenda Thompson made motion to adjourn at 7:25 pm. Tim smith seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
