CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Spencer Knight called to order the regular meeting of the Rutledge City Council on the above date. Council members Bruce Altznauer, Tim Smith, Tony Sells and Brenda Thompson were present as were members of the public.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIENCE

Mayor Knight called for and led the pledge of allegiance.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Bruce Altznauer made motion to approve the minutes of the February 16, 2016 meeting. Tim Smith seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

APPOINTMENT OF CITY TREE BOARD

Debbie Kilgore advised the council that the list of names she submitted to them had agreed to serve on the tree board and that they would need to appoint each member. Tim Smith made motion to appoint Joe Slaughter, Zack Pace, Gwen Johnson and Frankie Beers to serve on the Rutledge Tree Board. Tony Sells seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

SOLID WASTE COLLECTION PROPOSALS

Mayor Knight advised the council that only two proposals were submitted. He opened the envelopes and said Advanced Disposal price per container is $9.52 and Republic Services is $12.18. He advised the representatives that we would need to look over the contracts individually and get back with them at a later time. Tim Smith made motion to accept the quote from Advanced Disposal for $9.52 per can as long as everything in the contract is okay. Bruce Altznauer seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried. Mayor Knight said he would look over the contract and let them know.

STATEWIDE MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT

Mayor Knight said that this agreement says if we ever need help or we can help someone else we will. This is renewed every four years. Brenda Thompson made motion to renew the Statewide Mutual Aid Agreement. Tony Sells seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

SEWER POND DREDGING UPDATE

Mayor Knight advised the council that he met with Jay Mathews with GRW in regards to dredging the pond. Jay Mathews informed Mayor Knight that they would be moving the equipment to do the dredging in July. The sludge will be removed and put in a big bag to dry and then it will be hauled off to a landfill. Tony Sells asked how long it will take and the Mayor said probably about a month.

CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH CEREMONY

Mayor Knight stated that a child abuse prevention ceremony would be held on April 7th at 10:00am. He said if any of you can go let Debbie know.

OLD / UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Tony Sells asked if we were going to be paving any streets. Mayor Knight told him that we had just spent over $200,000.00 recently on paving. Mayor Knight informed the council that the speed humps had been painted. Andy Ainsley was present and advised the council and citizens to watch the paper because the county would be having a free dump week at the landfill.

Tony Sells made motion to adjourn at 7:25 pm. Brenda Thompson seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
