Regular Meeting - January 19, 2016 PDF Print E-mail

CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Knight called to order the regular meeting of the Rutledge City Council on the above date. Council members Bruce Altznauer, Tim Smith, Brenda Thompson and Anthony Sells were present as were members of the public.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIENCE

Mayor Knight called for and led the pledge of allegiance.

SWEARING IN NEW COUNCIL MEMBER

Mayor Knight swore in new council member Anthony Sells.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Brenda Thompson made motion to approve the minutes of the December 15, 2015 meeting as submitted. Bruce Altznauer seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

APPROVAL OF BUSINESS LICENSE – DAVID KELLEY

Mayor Knight stated that a business license application was submitted by David Kelley for Fresh Nelson Inc. located at 118 Fairplay. He said it is basically a farmers market and is allowed. Bruce Altznauer made motion to approve the business license for Fresh Nelson Inc. Tim Smith seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

APPROVAL OF BUSINESS LICENSE – ROY EITNIER AND CARLA COLQUETT

Mayor Knight advised the council that a business license application had been submitted by Roy Eitnier and Carla Colquett for Crown Colony Coffee Company located at 124 Fairplay. He said the use is allowed. It will be a retail coffee shop and possibly later may have a tasting room. Brenda Thompson made motion to approve the business license for Crown Colony Coffee. Tim Smith seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

GARBAGE CONTRACT REPUBLIC SERVICES

Mayor Knight informed the council that the garbage contract with Republic Services was set to expire in April. He said Republic had submitted a new proposal. He said we will be putting the new contract out to bid.

SPEED HUMP MAINTENANCE

Mayor Knight said that he had spoken to Ernest Clark and that the paint had been ordered for the speed humps and as soon as weather permitted they would be painted and new reflectors put on them.

OLD BUSINESS

Bruce Altznauer asked about the status of the swings in the park. Debbie Kilgore advised him that we were waiting on some additional parts so they could be installed. Bruce Altznauer stated that he had attended a steering committee meeting and they had all been very complimentary about Rutledge. Tony Sells inquired about the placement of a speed hump on Hawkins. Mayor Knight stated that all the speed humps were placed where the traffic engineer advised.

Bruce Altznauer made motion to adjourn at 7:27. Brenda Thompson seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
