CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Knight called to order the regular meeting of the Rutledge city council on the above date. Council members Brenda Thompson, Chad Cook and James Bratcher were present as were members of the public. Council member Bill Spann was absent.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Mayor Knight announced that the City Council had received an invitation to the 3rd Annual Rutledge Downhome Soiree. Frankie Beers was present and stated that it was a fund raiser the Rutledge Beautification Committee was putting together in hopes to use some of the proceeds for the new park. She said it is an Irish theme with a live Irish band that specializes in Irish Keltic music. Everyone is invited to come and join in the fun.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Brenda Thompson made motion to approve the minutes of the January 22, 2013 regular meeting as submitted. James Bratcher seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
BUSINESS LICENSE APPROVAL
Mayor Knight informed the council that Ronna Johnston had submitted a business license application for The Mahogany Rose located at 124 Fairplay Street. He said that it would be an antiques and gift store. He stated it is an allowed use. Chad Cook made motion to approve the business license application for Ronna Johnston located at 124 Fairplay for antiques and gifts. Brenda Thompson seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
SPEED HUMP REQUEST AND INFORMATION
Mayor Knight addressed the citizens and stated some people don’t like our speed humps. He advised the council that Mr. Pace was here with a request for some to be installed on Hawkins and Centennial Road. Mr. Pace stated he thought these streets needed the speed humps also. Mayor Knight stated that we would need to get the traffic engineer back out and think about budgeting them in the upcoming budget. He also advised the city clerk to keep up with all complaints and requests for the speed humps.
CITY PARK - FAIRPLAY
Mayor Knight advised that there were erosion issues with the park going down to the ball field. He said that he instructed Chad Whitley to price out some junipers for the hill area. He stated that a bid had been received for putting down matting, junipers, pine straw and installing a drain box and catch basin. He asked the council if they wanted to advertise to bid this. Chad Cook stated he did not think it would be worth it for such a small amount. James Bratcher asked about the cost of the plants per gallon. Mayor Knight stated he would question the landscaper on that issue. Mayor Knight advised that Beautification could not work on the park until the contractors were completely finished with their punch list and everything was signed off on as complete and satisfactory. He also informed the council that the bid opening for the tennis courts would be Monday, February 25th at 9:00am and a special called meeting would be held on February 28th to discuss the bids.
James Bratcher made motion to adjourn at 7:20pm. Brenda Thompson seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
