CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Knight called to order the regular meeting of the Rutledge City Council on the above date.  Council members Brenda Thompson, Chad Cook, Bill Spann and James Bratcher were present as were members of the public.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS

None

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Brenda Thompson made motion that the minutes of the December 17, 2012 meeting be approved as submitted.  Bill Spann seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

 

APPROVAL OF ALCOHOL LICENSE RENEWALS

Mayor Knight advised the council that all the paperwork had been received for the alcohol license renewals. Chad Cook made motion to approve the license renewal for the Rutledge Liquor Store.  Bill Spann seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.  James Bratcher made motion to approve the license renewal for the Park and Shop.  Bill Spann seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.  James Bratcher made motion to approve the license renewal for Rutledge Crossing.  Bill Spann seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

 

APPROVAL TO SEND POLICIES FOR ATTORNEY REVIEW

Mayor Knight stated that our insurance company had recommended that the city implement some new policies.  The policies are good driving, seat belt and social media. We have the policies ready and just need approval to send them to the attorney for his review.  Bill Spann made motion to send the policies to the city attorney for his review.  Brenda Thompson seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

 

DISCUSSION OF BANNERS

Mayor Knight advised that the banners that were downtown were old and needed replacing.  He stated that the new ones would be a cost of $1800.00.  He said that we would replace them with the same style and color.

 

BUSINESS LICENSE APPROVAL

Mayor Knight stated that a business license application had been submitted for Mary’s Linens.  He said it is located in the beauty shop on Martha Lane and is an allowed use.  Bill Spann made motion to approve the business license for Mary’s Linens.  James Bratcher seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

 

TRASH CANS FOR PARK AND UPDATE TENNIS COURTS

Mayor Knight stated that trash cans were needed for the park and BBQ area.  He said that at the present time the city was getting bids from Blue Chilton.  He said we are currently getting ready to run an ad in the newspaper the next two weeks and would be hopefully open bids around the time of the next meeting.

 

DISCUSSION OF COMPUTER PURCHASE

Ouida Autry went over the problems with the computers and the cost to buy and install the new ones.  She stated that one of the computers would act as a server therefore the files would be more protected.  She said the computer that Debbie uses is showing signs of age.  James Bratcher made motion to update and install the new computers.  Brenda Thompson seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

 

James Bratcher made motion to adjourn at 7:20.  Brenda Thompson seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
