CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Knight called to order the regular meeting of the Rutledge city council on the above date.  Council members Brenda Thompson, Chad Cook and James Bratcher were present as were members of the public.  Council member Bill Spann was absent.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

James Bratcher made motion to approve the minutes of the January 17, 2012 meeting as submitted.  Brenda Thompson seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

 

GEORGIA EMA HOMELAND SECURITY MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT

Mayor Knight stated that this was an agreement to be able to get financial aid should we have some sort of disaster.  James Bratcher made motion to approve the Georgia EMA Homeland Security Mutual Aid and Assistance Agreement.  Brenda Thompson seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

 

BUSINESS LICENSE APPROVAL

Mayor Knight advised that two business license applications had been submitted for approval.  He said the first one is from Kendrick Elder for lawn service called K & B Lawn & Cleaning Services located at 136 Kelly Street and it is permitted.  Brenda Thompson made motion to approve the business license for Kendrick Elder.  James Bratcher seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.  The second business license application submitted was from Sarabeth Lawler for event management and coordination called Vivid Events, LLC located at 106 West Main Street and also is a permitted use.  Chad Cook made motion to approve the business license for Sarabeth Lawler for Vivid Events, LLC.  Brenda Thompson seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

 

PLANNING & ZONNING COMMISSION REPRESENTATIVE

Mayor Knight stated that Jonathon Tonge would finish the 2012 term as the representative for Rutledge on the Planning and Zoning Board.  Mr. Tonge was present and introduced himself.

 

APPROVAL OF COURT BOND SCHEDULE

Mayor Knight advised that Charles Merritt Rutledge’s judge had revised the fine schedule for Rutledge.  Court clerk Ouida Autry said that some of the fines went up and some went down.   Mayor Knight advised that they did not need to make a motion that this was information only that it is up to the judge to set the fines.

 

UPDATE NUNNALLY ROAD

Mayor Knight stated that the work on Nunnally Road was completed on Friday and the engineer would be coming on Thursday and if everything looks good the gates will be removed and the road will be open.  Neil Fitzgerald and other citizens were present and thanked the council and said now the community can use the road.

 

 

APPROVAL OF ESTIMATE

Mayor Knight stated that the city had two bids for cleaning the storm drains.  He said one bid is from Halls Trenching for $3200.00 and the other is from CM Rogers and Sons for $4620.00.  Mayor Knight recommended to go with the higher bid due to the fact that this company has more equipment for this type of work and had cleaned the storm drains for the City of Madison.  Brenda Thompson made motion to except the bid from CM Rogers for $4620.00.  Chad Cook seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.

 

James Bratcher made motion to adjourn at 7:12PM.  Chad Cook seconded, all voted in favor and motion carried.
