Mayor Spencer Knight called to order the public hearing to set the millage rate on the above date.  Council members Tom Strott, Brenda Thompson, James Bratcher and Bill Spann were present. 

Mayor Knight stated that the proposed millage rate was 3.734.  He said that would bring the digest total to $94,473.  He said that is $466.00 more than last year and it is because of assessments.  Tom Strott said that is before any appeals have been submitted, it may change.  He said property taxes are 20% of our general fund revenue.  He stated small changes don’t have an effect on the bottom line.

Mayor Knight asked for public comments.  There was none.

Tom Strott stated he would like to lower the mill rate.  Bill Spann made motion to adopt the millage rate at 3.734.  James Bratcher seconded, Tom Strott voted against, Brenda Thompson voted in favor and motion carried.
