CALL TO ORDER
Mayor James Bratcher called to order the public hearing on the above date. Council members Brenda Thompson, Chad Cook, Tim Smith and Bruce Altznauer were present. One citizen and one newspaper representative were present.
DISCUSSION OF MILLAGE RATE
Mayor Bratcher stated that the city is keeping the same millage rate as last year. He said that the county had raised the assessments. Bruce Altznauer stated that it is like a double edge sword you want your values to go up but the taxes also go up.
CITIZEN INPUT
Mr. Briscoe who resides on Nunnally Street stated that his assessment went up 37%. Chad Cook stated we can’t keep lowering taxes. Even though we will collect more taxes the rate stayed the same. There were no other public comments regarding the millage rate. Debbie Kilgore stated that there will be one more public hearing on July 21st at 6:00PM and we will set the millage rate at 7:00PM at the regular council meeting.
